Well, you know what a comic book is, right? I hope I don't have to explain that to you.
If you need more information, look it up on wikipedia, which is a very good source on just about everything.
Well, what is a compendium? It is a brief summary of a larger work or of a field of knowledge. It might even involve some abstract thinking to accompany it all.
Basically, the traditional idea of a comic book is a bunch of folded over newsprint paper with drawn panels, usually involving pictures, and text.
A comic book can be anything it wants to be.
Usually, a comic book caters to the demand of the marketplace. There are many exceptions to this, where the artist just basically does what he wants.
Robert Crumb is a good example.
Anyway, I grew up reading comic books, and I have had a torrid relationship with them as an adult.
It is like dumping a girlfriend, and always going back to her.
The girl never takes me back, but comic books do.
Actually, once I dump a girl, I am done forever, but that is another story....look, I'm kidding!
Anyhow, this blog will be an investigation into The World of Comic Books.
My research methods aren't always good, and I am often lazy. However, I will just have fun with this, and see what happens.
If I enjoy doing this, maybe others will enjoy reading it.
That is how I usually work.
Okay, I will think about this blog for a day or two, and then I will write and post more when an idea comes to me.
Thanks for reading.
I'm not making any promises, just so you know.
I will just let this blog develop organically, and see if anything comes of it.
Bye for now.
